Got Fines?
Do you have library fines? If so, THIS WEEK ONLY you may bring in a canned or boxed food item for each dollar (or partial dollar) that you owe and we’ll excuse your library fines! For example, if you owe $1.50 in fines, you will need to bring two (2) cans or boxes of food to cover your fine. Thanks for clearing your library accounts and supporting the Souper Bowl of Caring at the same time!
See Mrs. Dalton with any questions.

"Souper" Bowl of Caring
The Beta Club is sponsoring its annual "Souper" Bowl of Caring to benefit United Christian Ministries January 23rd through February 3rd.  Canned, boxed, and other non-perishable food items will be accepted for the drive, and all items will benefit needy families in Pickens County.  Thanks for supporting this worthy cause!
Students Earn Seat in All-Region Honor Band
Congratulations to Zachary Chastain, Matthew Martin, and Michael Nelson for earning a seat in the prestigious 115-member South Carolina All-Region Honor Band.  This is a tremendous honor for these eighth-graders who competed against numerous high-schoolers and who now have the opportunity to audition for the All-State Honor Band on January 30th.  We are proud of you and your teacher, Mr. Mason Mumford, for achieving this success.
Beta Pancake Breakfast Benefits Relay for Life
The PMS Jr. Beta Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast at Applebee's in Easley on Saturday, February 11th from 7:45-9:45 am; all proceeds from the meal will benefit Pickens County's Relay for Life fundraiser in the spring.  Tickets are available from any Beta member for $5 each and will be sold until February 5th.  Beta members should turn in money and/or unsold tickets to Mrs. Riddle by February 6th.  Hope to see you at the breakfast!
Zaxby's Night
Please support our school by eating at Zaxby's in Easley on Monday, February 13th during the hours of 5 and 8pm.  Drive-thru and dine-in orders will count towards our total $ raised, so please make plans to enjoy some delicious food while supporting our students!  Thanks!
Turtles on the Town
Pickens Middle Community Education students, led by teachers Ms. Louise Hope and Dr. Susan Hilyer, are participating in the downtown Pickens initiative, "Turtles On the Town", as part of their class curriculum. You can learn more about the program by reading the promotional flyer that local merchants and community members have received by clicking here.

A $25 or more contribution will gain your name on the sponsorship page in the back of our student-generated coloring book (showing locations and turtles). You can put the name of a child or grandchild if you prefer! We would love for our sponsorship page to be full of Pickens County residents, all showing support for this project.  Coloring books will be distributed through the businesses who have adopted a turtle. People on the sponsorship page of the books will receive a book for free.

Many thanks to Ms. Hope and Dr. Hilyer for their continued efforts to encourage our students to the explore the history and culture of our town!
Students Collect Soda Tabs for Charity
Pickens Middle Community Education students are collecting soda can tabs to help raise money for the Ronald McDonald House®, a nonprofit organization which provides housing for families whose children are undergoing cancer treatments and other long-term illnesses.  Please send in your tabs so that they can be converted to money for this wonderful charity.  Thanks for helping the community!
Turn Recyclables Into Cash
Pickens Middle School Community Education students are collecting empty ink cartridges and outdated/discarded cell phones. These items are packaged and sent to The Funding Factory, who then sends our school a check for these recyclable items. The money raised will be used to purchase new recycle bins and school supplies. Thank you for your help in this ongoing project.
